What I learned from a sixth grader with a genius IQ...

One of my sixth graders is obsessed with useless, random facts. So, here's part of what I learned from her today:

A dime has 118 ridges around the edge.

America's favorite Crayola crayon color is blue.
Americans did not commonly use forks until after the Civil War.
Chewing gum while peeling onions will keep you from crying.
Celery has negative calories. It takes more calories to eat a piece of celery than the celery has in it to begin with.
It is impossible to lick your elbow. (My student spent 20 minutes today trying to prove this one wrong; it was priceless.)
The Andy Griffth Show was the first spin-off in TV history. It was spun-off from the Danny Thomas Show.
Women blink nearly twice as much as men.

I don't have any cute kids to post photos or videos of, so you'll have to settle for useless facts! *big grin*

I am glad that you are finally learning some useful information in school, instead of all that math stuff. Boy, if that student could have only got his elbow in his mouth, you could have had a peaceful day. Perhaps you should tell him that it is impossible for one to get his whole foot in his mouth. Woe!
